Every Halloween party needs a signature cocktail. This Mulled Cider Martini is a definite crowd pleaser!
1 ounce cinnamon schnapps
2 ounces apple cider
1 ounce vodka
Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Add cinnamon schnapps, apple cider and vodka. Shake for a few seconds until well combined. Dip rim of martini glass in apple cider and then into the cinnamon sugar. Pour martini into the glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Use local, fresh-pressed apple cider when you can find it – the intense flavors of the cider perfectly complement the vodka and cinnamon schnapps.
This recipe serves one because let’s face it, it’s more impressive to make these as you go along. However, the recipe can be expanded to fit inside of a pitcher so that guests can serve themselves.

Every Halloween celebration needs a festive dessert. This brownie recipe uses dark chocolate brownie mix and a “swirl” made from white chocolate and cream cheese. For an extra festive touch the “swirl” is mixed with orange food coloring. Since there are so many delicious, inexpensive brownie mixes on the market, feel free to use that instead of making the brownies from scratch.
1 package brownie mix
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
4 ounces cream cheese (1/2 a package)
4 drops red food color 4 drops yellow food color
Prepare brownies according to package instructions and transfer to brownie pan. Set aside. Over a double burner, add white chocolate chips and let melt, stirring occasionally. Add cream cheese and stir until melted. Add food coloring and mix until well combined. Pour mixture over the brownies and swirl into the batter using a knife or fork. Bake according to package instructions. Note: You don’t need to be aggressive while swirling the two batters together. You want the orange color to be visible when the brownies are cut.

Children will definitely have fun trying to figure out what they are drinking when you tell them the ghoulish names that each concoction has. Here are a few grizzly drinks that you could create and offer your guests when they come to enjoy the Halloween festivities with you.
Drinks That Look Like Ghoulish Green Slime
A fun drink that kids will love is one that looks really disgusting. A typically foul looking drink is called swamp juice. You can create this by using lime cordial mixed with grapefruit juice. To make this drink look like it was scraped directly from a swamp pit, all you need to do is to add a few bugs and worms. No, we don’t mean the real thing. You can buy a great selection of candy that resembles all types of insects and bugs. See the children’s faces light up as you add a few gummy worms and spiders to each glass. Continue reading
