Cheese balls are a perfect party food. They are festive, easy to make, and easy to store. This recipe includes a blend of cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and goat cheese and is then shaped into a pumpkin.
If having an orange pumpkin is important to you, purchase orange colored cheddar cheese and mix the cream cheese and goat cheese with orange food coloring before combining. This is great served with crackers, pretzels, and vegetable sticks.
2, 10 ounce blocks of sharp cheddar cheese
1, 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
2, 4 ounce packages goat cheese, softened
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pretzel rods (for the top)
Combine cheddar cheese, cream cheese, goat cheese, pepper, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl. Form into a ball and place on the serving platter. Indent the top with your finger and then place pretzel rods inside indentation for the stem. With a small metal spatula or your fingers create vertical groves. Serve right away or refrigerate, covered, until thirty minutes before serving.
